About iDVD ASIC Technology

The iDVD ASIC Platform is a market-tested, easy-to-deploy solution that reduces time-to-market and product development costs for products that provide highly interactive experiences over consumer’s existing DVD players and standard DVD format disks.

This new technology enables live interaction and physical play with rich-media DVD based games for use across a wide variety of market applications. Setting a new standard for future interactive DVD products, it allows its users to rapidly develop their own interactive DVD products and content in a timely and cost effective manner.

Leveraging the platform, iDVD and DVD Game and Content publishers will be able to provide users with an interactive experience similar to PC applications or CD-ROM environments, far superior than the standard DVD format can provide alone.

Using iDVD ASIC Technology

The Platform comprises a complete suite of mature, easy-to-use, and market tested technologies and includes:

  • Hardware Environment: a single chip ASIC based hardware solution that provides all required functionality to drive interactive DVD & VOD applications.

  • Software Environment: a software runtime environment, scripting language and operating system similar to the popular Java development environment, yet designed specifically for enabling interactive rich-media applications.

  • Software Development Tools: a suite of tools that provide a complete development environment for editing, compiling, emulating and testing applications.

  • Intellectual Property License: a commercial license to Bright Things’ Interactive DVD IP Portfolio.
